The art style that we are going to adopt is cartoony, however it is not disney cartoony as it will destroy the suspense and thrill of our entire game.

Game User Interface (GUI)
Style Overview
In Flashlight, we try to achieve the horror-thriller theme by involving fear in the GUI. Thus, the GUI displays a tinge of hair-raising experience with the use of blood and Friday 13th font by Norfok Incredible Font Design (http://www.norfok.com).
The GUI display is dark and spooky allowing the player to be in the right mood before the game starts. This is also achieved with the help of the Menu's sounds that help to lay a sense of the player 'already being in the haunted house'.
Menu
As we are restricted to the tight schedule, we decided to make the Menus as simple as possible also not confusing the player. In the Main Menu, there are only 3 options (New, Options and Exit) to choose from. The most complex menu would be the Options Menu where the player is allowed to change resolution, bits per pixel and full screen from video tab and control whether the sound is on via the sound tab. As the game is projected to only 30 minutes of game play, we have decided to forgo the option of having to save and load the game.

Heads-Up Display
After reviewing various games HUDs, we have decided to stick with HUD that is simple and understandable by the player in one look. In additional to symmetrical layouts, the HUD elements are projected on the left side of the game as the player is focused on the flashlight with is at the center of the screen. This makes it simpler when the player has to check his status via the HUD and from one look, getting all the information needed.
